Texas
Geographic Magazine - Goals and Objectives:
1. To provide and publish on the Internet, and later in print, articles for
and about Texas' towns and cities that would economically benefit from increased
tourism through historical travel. 2. To use Texas Geographic as an
information bank on small towns and their histories as well as a resource to the
curricula of school districts statewide. 3. To publish and update small
town histories by utilizing out-of-print resources and locally published histories
not widely available. 4. To seek and collect information, oral histories
and photographs from readers and private collections that can increase the body
of information available about any town, regardless of size. 5. To disperse
information from State sources to a wider audience, through the publication of
pertinent information specifically for the economic development of small towns
and rural areas and their school districts. 6. To publish stories and
articles on all aspects of Texas - the natural, ecological, social, economical,
agricultural, historical and (historically) political. 7. To maintain
the highest standards by utilizing the talents of the most knowledgeable people
in their respective fields. 8. To promote non-fiction Texas authors
and books, through the printing of excerpts, and reviews. And to provide information
on obtaining these books. 9. To encourage and work with school English
and History classes to obtain oral histories from local citizens, before their
stories are lost forever. In summary: To present the most complete
informative view of Texas' smaller towns and their history by chronicling change
through photographs and text and to interest students in both local and state
history by including stories about every region and town in Texas. To make the
presentation as complete as possible by utilizing information from every source
available, including State agencies and institutions as well as local histories
both written and oral, private photographic collections and privately owned artifacts.

Escapes is a strong online magazine with a strong Internet presence that continually
grows. But for each story we tell, there are many more stories that are lost.
Texas Escapes has now
grown beyond the resources of the founders and now needs support and funding to
continue what it has been doing and grow to fulfill it's many missions.
In 2001, Texas Geographic Magazine - a nonprofit educational organization was
registered with the office of the Attorney General of the State of Texas to fulfill
a larger and more important mission.
Articles of an educational nature that deal with the cultural and physical geography
of Texas would be published FOR Texas Geographic Magazine under its own heading
BY Texas Escapes Online Magazine. Texas Geographic will have an audience of the
over 1,200,000 annual readers plus the many school districts that use Texas Escapes
as a resource. Texas Geographic Magazine is a nonprofit organization,
and Texas Escapes will be one of its publishing vehicles. Texas Escapes Online
Magazine is incorporated as Blueprints for Travel LLC, and continues as an independent
entity. We have a strong personal vision for Texas Escapes, and realize that in
order to continue without impediments our unique way of presenting Texas as our
readers has come to expect and enjoy, we need to stay independent.
