| Some
of Texas' most spectacular scenery in a 16,000 acre park with 1,000 foot cliffs.

| "It
doesn't take much imagination to see where the Prairie Dog Town fork of the Red
River once ran through. You can also see some of the roads down in the canyon
that I drove on later." - Terry

A Tour of Palo
Duro Canyon State ParkPhotographer's
Note: Sit back and enjoy a small tour of Palo Duro Canyon. My photos cannot
capture the magnitude of this place and a wide angle lens would really have come
in handy, but I hope I can convey some of this marvelous area to you through my
pictures. - Terry

| Welcome
to Palo Duro Canyon. Now pay $4.00 to get in. |
| Ladies
and gentlemen, we are beginning our descent. |
| Once you start driving
down into the canyon, the various geological formations and centuries of erosion
start to reveal themselves. |
| Enjoy the scenery
while using the convenient facilities. Showers are also available. |
| Two of the more distinctive
features in Palo Duro Canyon are Capitol Peak (above and in postcard below) and
Lighthouse Peak
(see postcard below.) Lighthouse Peak can only be reached by a hiking trail if
your desire is to see this very remarkable formation close-up. During my visit,
I didn't have the energy to make the hike. |
| This rock formation,
sticking up like a little thumb, is part of Capitol Peak. |
Parting
view of the canyon. Hope you liked my little tour. - Terry
