History in a Pecan Shell

Not much is known about settlement, but there was a school in operation in the early 1880s (if not earlier). A lady named Ledbetter opened a post office in her home in 1895 to serve local residents. It went by the name of Bomar (see postmark below), named after her parent’s surname. It closed in 1914.

The town today has a church, cemetery and a community center.
